A picture Update

Alex and Trego hard at work with the lattice pieces.

On the right is a stack of the completed lattice pieces and the left are the ones that Alex still needs to plane

Action shot!

He has become very good at this.  IT only took him about 3 mornings to plane all the wood

Yeah, I'm just posing to prove that I'm here too...
These photos are a smidgen late since we now have a piece of the lattice complete!  Photos of that later and perhaps an actual update from Alex.

June 9th and the Yurt is on the move...

Alex has been working incredibly hard to get our yurt put together and all the pieces ready.  Yestarday the fabric arrived via UPS.  It weighs about 45 pounds and is a cream color.  We unwrapped it and the weave looks great, should be really nice.  Plus, I can use the extra fabric to make books with!  What could be better than that.

While we are in the midst of a heat wave here Alex has been toiling outside screwing the lattices pieces together.  Last night he finished the first chunk of it and we stretched it out to it's 6 foot height.  It looks amazing!  Super professional everything looks clean and great I am very excited about this.  We received the sample of the roof fabric the other day and it is currently strung up so that we can see how it works in different weather before we start purchasing another 30 yards of it.

We have gotten most of the thread, bobbins, and needles we will need.  We also bought a pair of fabric pinking shears to try.  We read online that if we cut the fabric using pinking shears it won't fray as badly so hopefully that is true...

Anyway I will be out in NY this weekend for Erins wedding and will post photos then of the work we have accomplished.
