48 Hours and Counting

Well, it is almost time.  In less than 48 hours Alex and I will be relocated to Moose Pond Arts & Ecology (AKA Scott and Zizi's land).  While it is exciting to move I am definitly going to miss our place "in town."  No longer will I be able to walk to work, or run home at lunch when I forget to bring my lunch box.  Later I will post some photos of our old apartment. 
As Alex and I work on building our yurt we will be living temporarily in the "Love Shack."  I did not name the love shack, nor do I want to know why that is its name.  However, after a few months there with Alex, Me, Phil, Lil, and Isis the yurt is going to look spacious by comparison.  The Love Shack is one room, with a futon bed, wood burning stove, and 2 propane cookstoves.  There is no running water, no bathroom, and no electricity.  For me that means that in the next day or two I will be making a mad rush to BJ's in order to stock up on D batteries to run my cd player on since there is no way that I am going to be living without music for the forseeable future. 

The packing is essentially done.  All we have left in the apartment is odds and ends of stuff that we had needed for work this week and kitchen stuff.  Alex didn't want to move any of our kitchen stuff in until we brought the cats over to the love shack so that they could get rid of any mice that may be lurking.  Tonight is going to be a massive packing and cleaning endevour to try and finish everything up.  Since I am going to be working for five hours on Saturday I wont be much help then. 

Yurt Update:

As far as building the yurt is concerned Alex and Scott have started to harvest the poplar trees that we will need for the lattice.  However, since mud season has set in hard and heavy up here in Maine no real construction will be able to be started until the ground has dried out a bit.  We have decided to go with Sunforger Marine Grade Canvas for the walls, now we just need to decide how many yards we will need and place our order.  Hopefully soon my foot pedal will come in so that my sewing machine will be operational again and we can begin putting the walls, windows, and ceiling together.
